AGRANA Fruit has consolidated its presence in the South American market through the complete acquisition of Argentinian fruit preparations producer MAIN PROCESS S.A.

The industrial plant of Main Process is strategically located in the city of Bella Vista, with a workforce of around 175 employees and  generated revenues of approx. 19 million € in its 2015 business year. In addition to standard fruit preparations for yogurts and ice creams, MAIN PROCESS S.A. also specializes in the production of syrups and beverages, fillings for bakery products and fruit toppings, partially commercialized through their own brand Main Fusion.

The MAIN PROCESS acquisition was closed on November 30th, 2016 in Buenos Aires. Mr. Johannes Kleppers (CEO of AGRANA Fruit Division Worldwide) along with top management members of the global and local teams attended for the closing.

“This acquisition represents another step in the direction of sustainably consolidating our global leadership in the fruit preparations market. Being the world market leader for fruit preparation for the dairy industry, we intend to strengthen our position in the core business and expand further in diverse product categories. The broad product range of Main Process S.A. in the non-dairy as well as the dairy segments complements our strategy of diversification well.” Quote Johannes Kleppers, CEO AGRANA Fruit.

Latin America is a strong growth market, particularly with regard to fruit preparations used in beverages and smoothies as well as for non-fruit solutions such as chocolate toppings and caramel syrups. Besides the core business of Main Process S.A. for industrial customers from the dairy and bakery industries, additional sales protential also exists in the quick-service restaurant (eg. fast food) and food service sectors (e.g. hotels and caterings).

Before the acquisition, Main Process’s strategy was to maintain and enhance its presence as fruit supplier for the dairy industry, while expanding into the food service segment and co-packing for companies in the retail market. In order to do so, MAIN PROCESS invested into the development of filling lines for small packaging such as doypacks, bottles and stick-packs.
