STRICTER STANDARDS BEAR SWEET FRUIT
At the “Fruit Science & Technology” department of our “AGRANA Research & Innovation Center” (ARIC) in Tulln, Lower Austria, we benefit from the synergy effects of our three divisions: sugar, starch and fruit.
Our AGRANA Research & Innovation Center is a 100 percent subsidiary of AGRANA Beteiligungs AG and is managed as an independent business. Over a surface area of approximately 4,000 m2, we have 60 employees working on various research projects.
Leading with innovationAt AGRANA, research and development has always been an important part of our success. In practice, this means that, along with local product development teams based in almost every AGRANA-Fruit production location all over the world, the international research and development team at the AGRANA Research & Innovation Center focuses on global innovations in the fruit preparation sector. In close cooperation with the global marketing team of the AGRANA Fruit Division we launch small to large scale projects that are extremely relevant to customers and always have the final consumer in mind. The results of these projects are rolled out and implemented in individual affiliates, and often even worldwide.
A highly solution-oriented teamThe close collaboration with our production locations makes us a versatile and highly solution-oriented team which is often brought in as an internal project partner. Cooperation with universities and other research institutes allows us to empirically develop existing technologies. Together with our production and process team we optimize our production processes in innovative ways and drive forward new product developments.
Losses in quality? No thanks!Our current research focuses are product developments, final product quality, food safety, raw material quality, new technologies, process optimization and know-how transfer. Thanks to our research and development facility, at AGRANA we are not just leaders in product innovation, but also in product realization. This is often no mean feat, because huge losses in fruit quality can sneak in along the way. Fruit processing involves a great number of process steps - from raw material to preparation. Each individual step carries a risk of fruit quality loss, which of course has to be minimized. With our projects, we work together with our local New Product Developments and production teams of experts to develop a solid basis for characterizing the process steps in order to optimize them.
